Cops Hunting For Pair Accused of Spending Funny Money In Town

Suspects Accused of Buying Dozens of Items with Phony Currency

Barrie Police are working to ID a pair accused of using counterfeit cash to finance a mini spending spree in town.

The pair allegedly went into the Bayfield St. Winner’s store on Sunday, April 28th and spent some time in the store, picking out dozens of items. Investigators say when it time came to pay, the male handed over several counterfeit bills before they both left the store.

The phony bills weren’t discovered until much later.

The suspects are described as:

Male suspect:

  • Male, white
  • Approximately 5’10” tall, and 170 lbs
  • 30-40 years old
  • Wearing blue and white Tommy Hilfiger jacket, black baseball cap, black sunglasses and black jeans

Female suspect:

  • Female, white, with blond hair
  • Approximately 5’9” tall, 170-180lbs
  • 30-40 years old
  • Wearing a black shirt, black tights, black boots, a long grey sweater and a patterned purse
