County of Simcoe, District of Muskoka, Holding Social Assistance Cheques for Now

Threat Of Postal Strike Has County, Region Taking Proactive Steps

The looming threat of a postal strike could affect lots of snail mail, including social assistance cheques coming from the County of Simcoe.

The County of Simcoe is holding onto these cheques; the County didn’t send them out in the mail, while they can be picked up at Ontario Works offices in the following communities:

  • Alliston 3:00 to 4:30pm
  • Barrie 2:00 to 4:30pm
  • Collingwood 3:00 to 4.30pm
  • Midhurst 3:00 to 4.30pm
  • Midland 2:00 to 4:30pm
  • Orillia 2:00 to 4:30pm

Meanwhile, social assistance cheques in Muskoka District were not mailed out last week as usual either. They can be picked up after 1:00 this afternoon at offices on Main Street in Gravenhurst, Pine Street in Bracebridge and King William Street in Huntsville.
