County Welcomes Funding for Retirement Home Nurses

Over 400 Grand to Go Towards New Registered Nursing Positions at Four Long-Term Care Facilities

The County is getting a few new nurses for it retirement facilities.

County council braved the storm for today’s meeting, passing an item that allows for $424,000 in additional funding. This money, coming from the province, will help cover the costs of additional registered nursing staff at four County-run long-term care facilities.

In 2018, the County of Simcoe was approved for this additonal funding, to be phased in over two years. This money will allow the homes to operate with one additional full-time Registered Nurse position over and above the provincial standard.

The County says long-term care residents are living longer and have more complex needs, while this new funding will allow them to better provide for these residents.
