She explained that the couple attended therapy three years into their relationship, hoping to resolve some issues. Still, he broke up with her within a minute of arriving at the session.

"And I was like, what? We were engaged and I was so shocked. I was in so much pain. He wasn't trying to surprise me. He was in that much pain in the relationship."

Looking back on it, it was for the best because a few years later, the couple reunited and were stronger than ever.

During their break, Cox said, “I learned how to reclaim my voice and boundaries. What were my motives in life? Like, what was my part in this?”

She added, " I'm so thankful for that breakup because when we got back together, it was a different relationship, but also because it taught me how I operated in the world.”

The couple reunited in 2016 and have been together since.
