COVID-19 case confirmed at a Barrie Catholic School

This is the second case of COVID-19 reported at a Simcoe County school

An individual at St. John Vianney Catholic School in Barrie has tested positive for COVID-19. Due to privacy reasons, Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board did not identify whether the person was a teacher, student or staff member.

Those people who were in the affected class have been asked by the school board to remain at home and quarantine for two weeks. The classroom has been closed. The school will remain open.

The first reported case of COVID-19 in a Simcoe County school was reported earlier this week. A teacher at Twin Lakes Secondary School in Orillia was confirmed to have the virus.
