COVID-19 is not hurting home sales in Barrie

Year-to-year residential sales ending in August were up 22.6 per cent

The housing market in Barrie continued to push through the pandemic with positive numbers being reported year-over-year to the end of August 2020.

The Barrie and District Association of Realtors reported 1,902 units were sold in the City between January and August of this year, a 22.6 per cent increase from the same period in 2019. In fact, the growth was greater than the increase in all of Simcoe County at 17.9 per cent.

The average price of a home sold for $547,226 in Barrie during the first eight months of 2020, up 11.6 per cent from the same timeframe last year.

A monthly snapshot shows August was not as strong as July with 302 homes sold, down 11.3 per cent. The average selling price last month was $567,469. This was 2.1 per cent less than the average price in July.
