The intersection of Highway 12 and King Street in Midland was closed for several hours on Monday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision involving an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) cruiser.

Police say the collision occurred around 2:15 p.m. when a cruiser responding to an unrelated call for service was involved.

"The officer involved in the collision was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The other involved driver was not transported to hospital," provincial police said in a news release.

The investigation is ongoing.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP ask that any witnesses who have not already spoken to police or have dash cam footage of the collision to call the Southern Georgian Bay OPP at 705-326-3536 or at 1-888-310-1122.
