Local performers and arts organizations invited to apply to be part of kickoff to Culture Days at Meridian Place

Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture taking place this fall

News release from the City of Barrie

The City of Barrie is inviting local performers as well as arts and culture organizations to apply to be part of a special addition to this year’s exciting Culture Days programming.

Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture taking place this year from September 23 through October 16, 2022. Culture Days programs invite the public to get behind-the-scenes to highlight the importance of arts and culture in our communities.

“We are very excited to provide this opportunity to our local arts and culture community,” commented Stephannie Schlichter, Director of Invest Barrie and the Economic & Creative Development Department at the City of Barrie. “Culture Days aims to foster appreciation for arts and culture, promote interaction between creators and their community, and affirm that we are each responsible for the cultural life of our community.”

On Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the City of Barrie will kick off Culture Days at Meridian Place in downtown Barrie with a diverse mix of arts and culture performances, activities, and organizations. Local performers and arts and culture organizations are invited to apply to be part of this event.

Selected performers may be entitled to receive a $250.00 honorarium while selected arts and culture organizations will be provided the opportunity to engage with the public.

Submissions can be made via email to creative@barrie.ca and will be accepted until Friday, September 2, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. EST. For performers, submissions should include contact information, a biography, and a few video examples for the selection committee to review. For arts and culture organizations, submissions should include contact information, a brief blurb about the organization, how much space is required, and information on how the space will be used on the event day.
