Damage done to heavy equipment at Harvie Road job site

Police looking for suspect with a bike

Someone damaged some heavy equipment at a south Barrie job site over the weekend, and they might’ve been riding a bike.

The Barrie Police Service was called to the new Harvie Road/Big Bay Point Road overpass construction site on Monday morning after workers arrived to find damage to several pieces of equipment. It is believed this took place sometime between Friday at 1:30 p.m. and Monday at 5:30 a.m., while investigators are leaning more towards Friday afternoon or evening.

Tire tracks located near one of the pieces of damaged machinery indicates the suspect or suspects had a bicycle with them.

Anyone who may have been in the area over the weekend or noticed anything suspicious in the area is asked to contact Constable J. McArthur at jmcarthur@barriepolice.ca or 705-725-7025 Ext. 2519. Any information can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.p3tips.com.
