(UPDATE) Deadly motorcycle crash in Barrie, charges pending say police

A 56-year-old Barrie man was killed

Barrie Police continue to investigate a deadly collision that claimed the life of a 56-year-old man riding a motorcycle.

First responders were called to the scene on Innisfil Street at John Street shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the motorcycle rider from Barrie was northbound on Innisfil Street when a southbound vehicle, that was turning left onto John Street, drove into the path of the bike.

"The resulting collision caused the motorcycle operator to be thrown from his motorcycle and as a result, he sustained fatal injuries," police said in a news release.

Roads in the Innisfil and John Streets area were closed until 9:30 p.m.

The investigation into the collision continues and police say charges are pending.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact the investigating officer Detective Constable Langdon at 705-725-7025, extension 2592.
