The encampment in the area of Anne, John, and Victoria Streets was the scene of a double homicide investigation for part of the summer.

Since then, it has been fenced off as the property undergoes an environmental clean-up by the city.

MacFadden says the Ontario Fire Marshal was notified about the blaze, as is protocol, but he has yet to hear back, adding the cause of the fire is undetermined.
