(Updated) 'Significant' delays on all GO train lines, including Barrie, due to derailment

A challenging day for commuters who rely on GO train service.

Metrolinx says a train leaving Union Station came off the track at low speed on Monday morning and made contact with a track switch.

"The train has remained in place since then, which has caused signal problems and reduced the number of tracks we can use," Metrolinx said in a statement. "Train movement is limited, and delays are expected to continue throughout the afternoon and evening rush hour.

Trains on the Barrie line are not servicing Union Station.
