Here's the dirt about the theft of flowers in Barrie

Police say not only were flowers stolen, but the person also made off with the dirt

No suspect descriptions, but Barrie police might be looking for a green-thumbed criminal.

They are investigating the theft of about 20 Irish flowers, dug out and taken from a Jagges Drive home in the west end of the city on Wednesday morning.

Police say the flowers were removed in about a 15-minute span, and whoever did it also took the dirt.

Then across town on Monday, police say two black planters were stolen from the porch of a home on Collete Crescent.

It's believed the planters were swiped during the weekend.
