After being on the air for 14 years, it's hard to find someone who doesn't know of "Barney, the purple dinosaur."
The T- Rex taught children how to love and accept others with his sweet voice and song "I Love You, You Love Me."
So, what went wrong? Why did people love to hate something that was so well-intentioned?
A new docuseries titled "I Love You, You Hate Me" reveals the behind-the-scenes drama and awful rumours that plagued the show.
In the trailer, Al Roker says, "people couldn't accept that this was just a show, so...let the bashing begin."
Dark and unfounded rumours began to plague the series, which included that Barney hid drugs in his tail.
Things got so bad that cast and crew members started getting death threats from the public for no reason.
The series talks to several people who were part of the show, including the man who voiced Barney, Bob West.
"I Love You, You Hate Me" premieres on October 12 on Peacock.
