An alert from Barrie police after a coyote attacked a dog Friday afternoon in the area of Sunnidale Road and Shirley Avenue.

Pet owners are being reminded that if a wild animal poses an immediate threat or danger to public safety they should call police.

This isn't the first attack by a coyote on a dog in the Sunnidale Park area.

The city has posted signage in Sunnidale Park alerting the public about coyotes in the area, and that people should be aware and keep their pets leashed.
