News release - Downtown Barrie BIA
As part of the Noella Tree lighting day of festive fun, the Downtown Barrie BIA is excited to announce the celebration of our Maple Avenue mural.
Created by artist Bareket Kezwer and painted with local artist Monica Loney, the mural titled 'Little by Little, A Little Becomes a Lot', is a gift of well-being to the Downtown Barrie Community. Little by little, a little becomes a lot. One heart is a heart, but many hearts together form a masterpiece. Small gestures repeated enough times have a major impact. Strawberries are known in many cultures for their healing properties. As the first fruit of summer, strawberries offer hope and the promise of new possibilities.
Join us at 54 Maple Avenue on Saturday, November 19th at 10 a.m. to celebrate the mural and other good things growing in the neighbourhood. The celebration will be followed by a tour of other projects in the area and highlight some of the great businesses in the West end of Downtown Barrie.
Many thanks to Pratt Homes Barrie for their Art Builds Communities partnership on this project. And to Councillor Keenan Alywin for contributing from his Community Fund.
Be sure to stay Downtown for a day full of festivities including free wagon rides, art activities, carollers, and holiday window displays. Music on the Meridian stage starts at 3 p.m. The Barrie Chamber of Commerce Santa Claus Parade starts at 5 p.m., followed by the Noella Tree lighting and fireworks. All topped off by a free concert with the Strumbellas at 7:30. Get ready to get festive Barrie!
