Driver charged after vehicle enters Lake Simcoe

Motorist charged with impaired

Orillia OPP was called around 5 p.m. on Saturday about a report a vehicle had entered the north end of Lake Simcoe with two occupants.

When officers arrived at the scene, the individuals were out of the vehicle and on shore.

An investigation began and police charged a 24 year old man from Georgetown with impaired driving, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fail to comply with demand, causing a disturbance, and operation of a vehicle while prohibited.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 11.
