Police said there were no passengers on the bus

An 81-year-old man suffered injuries described as non-life threatening by paramedics after the car he was driving plowed into the back of a stopped school bus.

Barrie police say it happened just before 4 p.m. Tuesday on Bayfield Street north of Wellington Street.

Investigators say there were no passengers on the bus which had been stopped in the curb lane when it was hit from behind.

The driver was transported by paramedics to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

Bayfield Street was closed for a short time to allow for the removal of vehicles.

The investigation into the collision continues.
