A man has been charged with impaired driving after police say an SUV struck the front of a convenience store in downtown Barrie.
When officers arrived just before 2:30 Friday morning, police say they located the car and saw that the store on Dunlop Street East had a broken window and appeared to have some structural damage.
"The driver, a 34-year-old male from Barrie, exhibited obvious signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving. He was transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where a qualified breathalyzer technician confirmed that he had been operating his sport utility vehicle (SUV) while almost three times in excess of the legal limit," according to a police news release.
The man was given a 90-day licence suspension, while his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
