A driver was killed in a crash Tuesday in Tiny Township.

Ontario Provinial Police said they received a call at around 3 a.m. from a passing motorist regarding a vehicle in the ditch on Concession Road 9 West, west of Simcoe Road 6, near Perkinsfield. The motorist attempted to assist the occupant of the vehicle but police said the person was unable to because of the position of the car. Police said the lone occupant of the vehicle, a 39-year-old Tiny Township man, was pronounced dead.

"The collision is believed to have taken place about 2:15 a.m. and no evidence exists to indicate there were any other vehicles involved," police stated in a news release on Tuesday evening.

The road was closed for the investigation but has since reopened.
