Drivers Charged Following Weekend Spot Checks

Two Separate RIDE Program Stops

Two drivers are in hot water following a pair of RIDE spot checks.

South Simcoe Police officers claim to have smelled the tell-tale scent of alcohol on the breath of a motorist shortly before 1:00 Saturday morning, at a RIDE check at Webster Blvd. and Forest St. in Innisfil. A roadside test resulted in a fail, so the driver was taken back to the stationhouse. A 42-year-old man was charged.

Around 1:00 Monday morning, a officer spoke to a driver at a Highways 27 and 88 spot check in Bond Head who was allegedly showing signs of impairment. A closer look inside the vehicle resulted in charges of Having Alcohol and Cannabis Readily Available to the Driver, while breath tests ended with a warning and a three-day licence suspension.
