Huronia West OPP laid 483 driving-related charges over the Civic Day long weekend, with police saying 124 were speeding.
From Friday, August 2, to Monday, August 5, officers patrolled the Town of Wasaga Beach, Township of Clearview, and Township of Springwater as part of the national traffic safety initiative led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP).
"This public education and enforcement campaign is designed to increase public compliance with traffic laws, and targets behaviours that place drivers, passengers and other road users at risk," OPP said.
