Drug, assault, impaired driving charges laid, and more, following series of road rage incidences around Orillia

Orillia man facing upcoming court date

An Orillia man is facing a slew of charges including drug trafficking after a few road rage incidences were reported to the police.

Orillia OPP say a driver collided with several unoccupied vehicles in a Barrie Road parking lot around 6 a.m. Tuesday, before aggressively confronting a witness and driving off. A second call came in not long after of an aggressive driver along Highway 11. Police were told a collision occurred on the highway, and the driver of one vehicle assaulted the caller before taking off. A third call came in about an interaction with a driver shortly after that.

Police were able to zero in on a suspect vehicle and stopped it without incident on Highway 11 southbound at Line 14. The driver was arrested and a search of the vehicle allegedly turned up cocaine, fentanyl and some Canadian currency.

A 28-year-old man will answer to drug, assault, mischief, impaired driving, dangerous driving, and possession of stolen property charges during an upcoming court appearance.
