An investigation into alleged drug trafficking in Wasaga Beach and the Collingwood area has resulted in charges against two suspects from Brampton.
In January, the Huronia West OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) launched an investigation involving a person who was allegedly trafficking drugs in Wasaga Beach and Collingwood.
On April 25, police say a search warrant was executed by members of the Huronia West, Collingwood, Southern Georgian Bay and Nottawasaga CSCU at an address in Wasaga Beach, and simultaneously, the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) conducted an entry at another address in the town. Police seized a quantity of cocaine, fentanyl, a weapon and indications of drug trafficking.
A Brampton man, aged 26, has been charged with:
- Trafficking Schedule I Substance - Cocaine
- Trafficking Schedule I Substance - Opioid
- Possession of Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
- Possession of Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Opioid
The accused is slated to appear in court at a later date.
A second Brampton man was arrested and charged with several drug and firearm-related charges after provincial police zeroed in on suspect in late February who they allege was dealing drugs in Wasaga Beach.
On April 30, the accused was found travelling in the area and was stopped in Clearview Township.
"During the investigation, the accused was arrested, the vehicle was seized, and items were seized including a loaded firearm, cocaine, and Canadian currency," OPP said in a news release on Monday.
The 21-year-old was held for a bail hearing.
