Drugs, cash seized during traffic stop in Springwater Township

Street value of the seized drugs is estimated to be in excess of $20,000

A 19-year-old Elmvale man faces trafficking and other charges following a traffic stop by provincial police on County Road 27 in Springwater Township.

Around 9 p.m. on Friday, OPP say an officer noticed a traffic violation from a passing motorist and stopped the vehicle.

During a chat with the individual, the officer noticed a small amount of marijuana "readily available to the driver."

Police say during a search of the vehicle, suspected drugs and trafficking paraphernalia were seized including cocaine, fentanyl, psilocybin, oxycodone and hydromorphone.

The street value of the drugs is estimated to be in excess of $20,000.

The teen was also dinged with various charges under the Highway Traffic Act, Tobacco Tax Act and Cannabis and Control Act.

He has a court date in April.
