(VIDEO) Search warrant executed after Barrie police arrest two men at south end commercial address

Police say they seized a quantity of suspected cocaine

Drug and other charges have been laid against two men after Barrie police were alerted late Wednesday morning about suspicious activity involving a parked vehicle in a parking lot at 222 Mapleview Drive West near Veterans Drive.

Information was received that a gun had been seen and that a suspected drug transaction had taken place.

Uniformed officers, the tactical support unit and plainclothes detectives arrived at the address and two suspects were taken into custody. They were transported to police headquarters where the investigation continued.

Last evening, a search warrant was executed at a Barrie residence and a quantity of suspected cocaine was seized.

A 41-year-old Barrie man has been charged with:

  • trafficking a controlled substance - cocaine
  • possession for the purpose of trafficking -cocaine
  • possession of a controlled substance - cocaine

He was released with a court date in May.

A second suspect, a 27 year-old-Brampton man, was charged with:

  • possession of a controlled substance - cocaine
  • failure to comply with a release order
  • failure to comply with a peace bond.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing on Friday.

Police say the weapon that was seized was not operable, and as a result, no firearms charges were laid.
