Dufferin OPP seeking witnesses to crash in construction zone that killed a Barrie mom and injured four others

Dufferin OPP would like to hear from witnessess and anyone with video of a multi-vehicle crash north of Shelburne that claimed the life of a Barrie woman and injured her baby, as well as three other people.

OPP say at around 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday, a transport truck plowed into a line of vehicles stopped in a construction zone on County Road 124 and south of 20th Sideroad in Melancthon Township.

According to police, seven vehicles were involved in the collision.

A 31-year-old Barrie woman died at the scene. Her baby was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A 45-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man were taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries, and a 67-year-old man was airlifted to a trauma centre.
