Elderly Woman Accused of Running From The Law While Driving Drunk

Passing Motorist Helped Police Stop Suspect Vehicle

An elderly woman is in hot water with the law, after cops say she tried to run.

An officer in Innisfil trying to pull an erratic driver over around 2:00 Monday afternoon says the suspect vehicle instead sped off, failing to stop for lights and sirens. The officer was eventually able to get the vehicle to the shoulder, with the help of a passing motorist.

In speaking to the 72-year-old driver, the officer says they smelled the scent of booze on her breath. The woman allegedly refused multiple demands for a breath test, and was taken downtown to be charged.

She has a court date later this month to answer to allegations of Impaired Driving, Flight from Police, and Refusing Roadside Screening.
