The Barrie Fire Service says a fire that gutted a backyard deck at a home on Lamont Crescent in the city's south-end late Wednesday afternoon was electrical.
Deputy Fire Chief Carrie Clark told Barrie 360 that firefighters were able to suppress the fire to a point where they were able to physically remove other hazards such as propane tanks.
Clark said there was a pool heater in the area but could not confirm if that was what sparked the flames.
Damage is about $50,000.
