Police north of Toronto say another suspect has been charged in a violent attack on a woman who was then kidnapped a few weeks later.
York Regional Police say Elnaz Hajtamiri, who is still missing, was attacked by two men and struck with a frying pan in an underground parking garage in Richmond Hill, Ont., on Dec. 20 of last year.
They say someone nearby intervened and the suspects drove off.
Police say one of the suspects, a 23-year-old man from Brampton, Ont., was arrested in April and charged with attempted murder, attempted kidnapping, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and mischief over $5,000.
A Canada-wide warrant was issued for a second suspect – a 24-year-old man, also from Brampton – and police say he was arrested last week.
He's also charged with attempted murder, attempted kidnapping, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and mischief over $5,000. Both suspects remain in custody.
A few weeks after what happened in the garage, police say Hajtamiri was abducted from a home in Wasaga Beach, Ont., by three suspects dressed in police gear.
She has not yet been found. A 35-year-old man from Quebec has been charged with kidnapping in the Jan. 12 incident.
