Essa Township man charged after “causing fear” at a park in Angus

Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 24-year-old man after complaints of someone causing a disturbance and creating fear at Stonemount Park in Angus.

Callers reported a man, wearing a Michael Myers Hallowe’en mask, was banging on things with a wrench, yelling at people, and taking pictures of children in the park.

When a confrontation erupted between the man and a group of teens, parents with children in the park intervened and called police.

The man left on foot prior to police arrival but was located and charged with:

• Assault with a weapon
• Uttering threats
• Resisting a peace officer
• Mischief
• Causing a disturbance
• Criminal Harassment

The accused has been held pending a bail hearing.
