Essa Township man charged with drunk driving after parking at police facility

Man walked into police-owned centre and fell asleep

An Essa Township man was in the right place at the wrong time and is now looking at a charge of impaired driving.

York Regional Police say the 35-year-old man drove into the parking lot of a Richmond Hill police facility around 7:00 Thursday night, parked his car, strolled in, and fell asleep in a chair. Police say he was drunk the whole time.

Once rousted by police, the man said he was there to report a crash, but was showing clear signs of impairment. He was placed under arrest and charged with drinking and driving.
