A 35-year-old motorist was charged with stunt driving after provincial police say they clocked a vehicle travelling 155 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone in Essa Township.

In a post on Facebook, police said the motorist was stopped on County Road 10 near County Road 21.

As a result of the stunt driving charge, the motorist had their driver's licence suspended for 30 days and their vehicle impounded for 14 days.

"Speeding at this level is not just illegal—it’s extremely dangerous. High speeds reduce your reaction time, increase stopping distances, and significantly raise the risk of serious injury or death in a collision" police said on Facebook.

Police added that speed limits are in place to protect everyone on the road.
