
A motorist stopped by provincial police in Midland after an automatic licence plate reader (ALPR) detected a licence plate violation was apparently not in the mood to cooperate.
The vehicle was pulled over around 5 p.m. on Sunday, and according to the OPP, the driver refused to roll down the window or open the door despite repeated requests from the officer. The vehicle then drove off, keeping within the speed limit.

Officers followed the vehicle to a nearby grocery store parking lot, where several police cruisers were positioned to prevent the car from leaving. Police said the driver again attempted to flee, striking a police cruiser, causing minor damage but no injuries.
Officers were able to gain access to the vehicle and arrest the driver.
A 31-year-old from Penetanguishene was charged with flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
