Farmers’ Grant Helps Cover Some Of Gravenhurst Fire Truck Cost
New Truck Expected to Be in Service This Weekend
Gravenhurst has a brand-spanking new fire truck, thanks to a $25,000 grant.

The money comes via the Farm Credit Canada’s Agri-Spirit Fund and helps cover the cost of the new truck and its equipment.

“This truck was intentionally designed to be smaller than normal to facilitate access down some of our smaller cottage roads,” said Fire Chief Larry Brassard. “The truck is capable of carrying 1500 gallons of water and is equipped with a proper truck mounted fire pump, plus a portable water pump, a portable water tank and a variety of equipment which the Farm Credit Canada Grant helped us purchase”

The truck has a pricetag of $324,000, and while firefighters are currently training with the new vehicle, it is expected to be in service as of this weekend.
