Fatal collision on HWY 89: One dead, five sent to hospital

Police say a 70-year-old Alliston woman died at the scene
HWY 89 Fatal Crash

Nottawasaga OPP say one person is dead and five others were sent to hospital after a crash on Highway 89 on Saturday.

Around 10:00 a.m., police, and emergency service personnel, responded to the two-vehicle collision west of Veteran's Drive.

OPP say a 70-year-old Alliston woman, a passenger of one of the vehicles, was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle and a child, who was a rear passenger, were transported to a Toronto area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to officers, the driver of the other vehicle and two children were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say no other injuries were reported at the time of the crash.

OPP say the cause remains under investigation.

A road closure was in place for several hours.
