Female pedestrian injured in hit-and-run in Essa

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a hit-and-run in which a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Essa Township near Angus.

Police were alerted shortly before midnight on Saturday that a female was lying on the edge of County Road 10 between 25th Sideroad and Willoughby Road. When officers arrived, they were unable to locate anyone.

Shortly after, a 33-year-old woman contacted police to say she was walking along County Road 10 when she was hit by a vehicle

"Officers were able to locate and speak to the female at which time she was transported to hospital with minor injuries," police said in a news release.

Investigators are asking anyone with information or dash cam footage in relation to this incident to contact the OPP at 1-800-310-1122.
