A 25-year-old British Columbia man is the fifth person to be charged in an attack on Elnaz Hajtamiri, which happened a month before she was abducted.

York Regional Police say the person is charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

In December 2021, police responded to a report of a woman who had been attacked with a frying pan in an underground parking garage in Richmond Hill.

The suspects fled in a vehicle and 37-year-old Hajtamiri was treated for serious injuries.

Three suspects were charged in 2022 in connection with the attack and a fourth person was arrested last month.

Hajtamiri was kidnapped from a relative's Wasaga Beach home on January 12, 2022 by three men dressed in fake police gear. They fled in a white Lexus RS SUV. Hajtamiri is still missing.

A $100,000 reward has been issued by police for information leading to her whereabouts.
