Saturday Night Live has been a been a pop culture staple since day one, and now we are getting a movie on the episode that started it all.
Reports say Jason Reitman will direct the film about the first episode of SNL.
It aired on NBC on Oct. 11, 1975, hosted by George Carlin with musical guests Billy Preston and Janis Ian.
Those featured included Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Garrett Morris, Laraine Newman, Michael O'Donoghue and Gilda Radner.
According to Deadline, the film describes the day "when a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television forever. This is the true story of what happened that night behind the scenes in the moments leading up to the first SNL broadcast, retelling chaos and magic of a revolution that almost wasn't, counting down the minutes in real time to the infamous words, "Live From New York, it's Saturday Night."
Reitman has teamed with his Ghostbusters: Afterlife co-writer Gil Kenan to co-write the script.
There's yet to be an official title for the project.
