A Barrie Fire spokesperson has told Barrie 360 that Monday's blaze at a Tiffin Street scrapyard that sent black smoke billowing over the city is not considered suspicious.

The fire was contained to scrap vehicles at the back of All Ontario Recycling.

Several properties were evacuated because of the smoke.

Dep. Chief Derek Wilson said the cause of the fire is undetermined. The damage total is around $50,000.

The fire is being investigated by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Labour, but the Ontario Fire Marshal will not get involved, according to Wilson.
