Occupants safe after fire at modular home in Oro-Medonte

OPP put a nearby elementary school in a shelter in place

Two occupants are safe after a fire at a modular home in Oro-Medonte on Tuesday morning.

Hugh Murray, Oro-Medonte fire chief, told Barrie 360 they received the call at around 10:30 and responded to the blaze located in the area of Line 11 just south of 15/16 Sideroad.

He didn't have information regarding the cause of the fire, damage total, or if there were working smoke alarms.

Provincial police placed East Oro Public School in a shelter in place due to the fire, but lifted it just before noon.
