Fire at homeless encampment in Barrie

Barrie firefighters knocked down a blaze at a homeless encampment on Bradford Street around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

A fire department spokesman told Barrie 360 there was nobody at the location when emergency crews got there.

The encampment is in a field between Bradford Street and Lakeshore Drive.

A cause of the fire is unknown and the spokesman said determining what sparked the flames may never be known due to the materials in the area.
