UPDATE: Fire in Anten Mills

Home was equipped with working smoke alarms

Fire investigators have been unable to determine the cause of a house fire last week in Anten Mills

No one was hurt in the fire last Thursday night.

“Thank you to our team of trained firefighters who battled the blaze while managing freezing outside temperatures and equipment. Working smoke alarms gave the family the lifesaving warning they needed to safely escape, enact their home fire escape plan and call 911.” – Deputy Fire Chief Jeff French

Emergency crews arrived at the Luella Boulevard home around 11:00 pm to find the main floor of the two-storey home fully engulfed by flames.

Three stations and 34 firefighters got to work knocking down the blaze, stepping up operations as the fire spread to the second floor and roof.

While the home was too heavily damaged to ascertain an exact cause, Springwater Fire officials do not believe the fire, which started in the absement, to be suspicious in nature.

Damage is estimated at $700,000.
