Two people face multiple weapons charges after OPP executed a search warrant at an Orillia residence in March where police say an an illegal gun was found and seized.
An investigation regarding the weapon was launched and police learned that last fall the firearm was stolen from a vehicle parked in the north end of Orillia. The victim was assaulted prior to the gun being stolen, according to investigators, and the weapon was later sold to people who were not licensed to have the firearm.
As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old man from Ramara Township has been charged with:
· Trafficking in Firearm
· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
· Robbery with Violence
· Possession of firearm contrary with Prohibition Order
· Failure to Comply with Release Order
A 29-year-old woman from Orillia has been charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Robbery with Violence
- Failure to Comply with Release Order
The accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
