A 29-year-old Collingwood man has been charged after provincial police responded to a Wasaga Beach residence around 7 a.m. on Wednesday about a person being threatened with a gun.

When officers arrived, they were told the suspect had fled the scene on foot. However, police were able to locate the suspect soon after, and he was taken into custody.

A gun was not found on the suspect, so police with the assistance of the canine unit conducted a search of the area and found a firearm that matched the description of the one used at the Wasaga Beach residence.

The suspect was charged with the following:

·      Firearm - Use while committing offence

·      Uttering threats - Cause death or bodily harm

·      Fail to comply with release order - Other than to attend court

·      Fail to comply with Undertaking

·      Fail to comply with Probation order

·      Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody awaiting a future court date.
