First-Time Clearview Councillor Remembered For His Dedication

Ward One's Ed Christie Passed Away Suddenly Over The Weekend

Clearview Township is mourning the loss of a “gentleman” councillor.

Ward One representative Ed Christie passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 30th. “He was a gentleman and a dedicated Councillor to Clearview Township.” Said Clearview Mayor Doug Measures. “He will be missed at our council table and I will fondly remember our many debates and talks about Clearview.”

Christie was first elected as Ward One Councillor during the recent 2018 municipal election and immediately made an impact, according to the Township, in pushing for the installation of radar speed signs in Nottawa. Said to be passionate about connecting the trails throughout Clearview, Christie is also credited with bringing together an Economic Development Action Committee, and engaged in establishing a BIA in Stayner.

Flags at all Municipal facilities will be flown at half-mast until Friday morning. A public funeral will be held on Thursday, December 5th at 11:00 AM at the Trinity United Church in Collingwood, details are available on the Fawcett Funeral Homes website, www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com.
