Five people – two of them children – escaped without injury this morning from a burning home on Ridgeway Avenue in Barrie.
Barrie Fire got the call just after 5 am. Crews dealt with it quickly, but not before the fire did about $300,000 in damage.
Most of the heavy damage is on the main floor where a mother and her two children lived. A male and a female lived in a separate unit in the basement.
Investigators say some combustibles were left too close to a heater and ignited. Smoke alarms got everyone out okay.
