Five people face a total of nearly 40 charges after provincial police executed a search warrant at two addresses in Barrie and a vehicle in connection with thefts from vehicles in New Tecumseth and Essa Township.
Beginning in October, Nottawasaga OPP reported a significant increase in thefts from vehicles. Police say the thefts resulted in the fraudulent use of credit cards.
On Thursday, the search warrant was executed by police with assistance from the Caledon Community Street Crime Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP K-9 Unit and Barrie Police.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged the following:
A 24-year-old male from Tiny Township has been charged with:
· Possession property obtained by crime under $5000 - Five counts
· Theft under $5000 from a motor vehicle - Four counts
· Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
· Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin)
· Fraud under $5000 - Four counts
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on December 1, 2022
A 23-year-old Barrie man was charged with:
· Possession of an identity document
· Possession property obtained by crime under $5000 - Four counts
· Theft under $5000 from a motor vehicle - Three counts
· Fraud under $5000 - Three counts
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on December 1, 2022
A 25-year-old Barrie man was charged with:
· Theft under $5000 from a motor vehicle - Three counts
· Possession property obtained by crime under $5000 - Four counts
· Fraud under $5000 - Three counts
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on December 1, 2022
A 48-year-old Barrie woman was charged with:
· Possession property obtained by crime under $5000
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on November 24, 2022
A 43-year-old Barrie man was charged with:
· Possession property obtained by crime under $5000
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on November 24, 2022
