Flag football will become an Olympic sport in 2028.
The International Olympic Committee has included flag football in the official program for the 2028 Games slated for Los Angeles.
Cricket, baseball-softball, lacrosse, and squash were also added.
The IOC's decision follows deliberations and recommendations from the IOC executive board, the IOC Olympic Program Commission and the Los Angeles organizing committee, concluding a comprehensive two-year evaluation process.
It's estimated that 20 million players in over 100 countries, including Canada, actively participate in flag football.
