The colours of Ukraine’s flag have been illuminated on monuments and buildings around the world to show support for the country amid the Russian invasion.
In Barrie, the Ukraine flag is flying at City Hall, and Mayor Jeff Lehman tweeted that “Across Canada, cities are flying the flag and standing together for #Ukraine.”

At a meeting of Ontario’s Big City Mayors, a motion was unanimously passed on Friday supportive of Ukraine’s sovereignty, the strict sanctions imposed by the federal government on Russia, and calling for Canada to welcome those fleeing the conflict with open arms.
